Brink of Death

"For most of my life, I've been bedridden due to an unknown illness. Through the days and nights, I'd daydream of playing in the field outside my window. However, the only times I used my legs was in my dreams, and I used them to run away from the Death God that chased me. He knew I was on the Brink of Death and followed closely, waiting to claim my soul when my frail body finally gave it up.

Then, one night when I was feeling my worst, he entered my room while I was still awake. I knew what he had come for, and I was scared beyond belief. What would my father do if I died? What of all the promises he gave me that I'd step foot on the grassy lands of our ranch? I wasn't ready to embrace death, so I ran from the dark figure that loomed over my bed. I ran and ran, feeling the little energy my body had fade quickly, and I didn't get far.

My body froze as he approached from behind. I could feel the chills of his breath wrap around me, tugging at my soul. Before he claimed me, I realized that I had made it to the field I had longed to play in. I guess my wish was granted, but instead of playing in it, it became my deathbed."

Don't ask, because I don't know. It was just a little story that popped into my head one night. This is all you'll see of it.
